- Elizabeth A. Browning
Ms.
Browning is founder and Chief Executive Officer of LLuminari,
an innovative health education company co-founded with
Susan Love, M.D., and Nancy Snyderman, M.D. Prior to founding
LLuminari, Ms. Browning was president, DuPont Consumer
Health, a division of DuPont’s Nutrition and Health
strategic business unit. During her 20-year career with
the DuPont Company, she held a variety of leadership positions
and led the globalization of the Lycra brand and the company’s
entry into e-business. Ms. Browning frequently lectures
on global marketing and branding. She has worked with
the Stanford Executive Education Program and the Wharton
School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/English
from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Advanced
Management Program, Harvard Business School. She lives
in Wilmington, Delaware with her family.
- Marianne J. Legato, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr.
Legato is an internationally known academic physician,
author, lecturer, and specialist in women's health. She
is the founder and director of the Partnership for Gender-Specific
Medicine at Columbia University. The first collaboration
between academic medicine and the private sector focused
solely on gender-specific medicine—the science of
how normal human biology differs between men and women
and of how the diagnosis and treatment of disease differs
as a function of gender. Dr. Legato has spent her research
career doing cardiovascular research on the structure
and function of the cardiac cell, which is supported by
the American Heart Association and the National Institutes
of Health. Dr. Legato writes for the scientific and lay
communities. She received her medical degree from the
New York University College of Medicine, and is a Diplomat
of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow
of the American College of Physicians.
- Alice D. Domar, Ph.D.
Dr. Domar is a leader on women and stress, infertility,
and self-nurture. An author, professor, and resource on
women's health issues, Dr. Domar is a graduate of Concord
Academy and Colby College. She is currently the director
of the Mind/Body Center for Women's Health at Boston IVF,
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Beth Israel Deaconess
Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Domar is an assistant
professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive
biology at Harvard Medical School. She was selected in
2004 as a “Woman to Watch” by Lifetime Television.
- Byllye Y. Avery, B.A., M.Ed.
A dreamer, visionary, and grassroots realist, Ms. Avery
combines activism and social responsibility by developing
a national forum for the exploration of health issues
of African-American women. She is the founder of the Avery
Institute for Social Change and the National Black Women's
Health Project. Prior to her entry into the health care
arena, Ms. Avery taught special education to emotionally
disturbed students and consulted on learning disabilities
in public schools and universities throughout the southeastern
United States. She holds honorary degrees from Thomas
Jefferson University, the State University at New York
at Binghamton and Gettysburg College. In 2002, Lifetime
Television honored Ms. Avery with their prestigious
Trailblazer Award.
- Miriam E. Nelson, Ph.D.
Dr.
Nelson is director of the John Hancock Center for Physical
Activity and Nutrition at the Friedman School of Nutrition
Science and Policy, Tufts University. Dr. Nelson’s
international best-selling books Strong Women Stay
Young; Strong Women Stay Slim; Strong
Women, Strong Bones; Strong Women Eat
Well; and Strong Women and Men Beat Arthritis
have helped people learn how to stay younger, healthier,
and stronger. Her research has revolutionized how people
understand nutrition, strength training, aging, and health.
